May 19, 2023 is World Family Doctor Day!
Thank you to our wonderful family physicians! At BSF, our compassionate and dedicated family physicians work closely with our residents, families, clients and interdisciplinary teams to optimize wellbeing and provide person-centred care.
In honour of World Family Doctor Day, we asked our family physicians to tell us about their experience working at BSF. Here's what they said:
“One of the most rewarding aspects of working as a family medicine physician within a long-term care site is the opportunity to develop long-term relationships with residents and their families. Many residents in long-term care facilities have complex medical needs and require ongoing care and support, so physicians who work in these settings have the opportunity to become deeply involved in their residents' lives and provide continuity of care.
Also, physicians in long-term care facilities often find their work very rewarding because they can improve the quality of life for their residents. Many long-term care residents may have limited social interaction or may be experiencing chronic health conditions, so physicians who work in these settings can play an important role in helping them maintain their physical and mental health and help them find meaning and purpose in their daily lives.
Working as a physician at Clifton House, you are part of a multidisciplinary team striving to provide more comprehensive care, address the residents' needs more effectively, and ensure they receive the best possible care. BSF has provided a structured and collaborative environment to work in, which has allowed for better communication and coordinated care for residents.”
“I have a love for the elderly and frail. Providing medical care in a continuing care facility is a unique and wonderful opportunity to help these people in their home. I am so grateful to have such a dedicated, skilled and caring team to work with at Tudor Manor. Everyone is committed to providing the best care possible.”
