June 3-9, 2024 is Seniors’ Week!

Recognized annually across Alberta, this week is an opportunity to recognize and show appreciation for older adults and the contributions they make to our communities. This year's theme in Calgary is "Aging is More... Let's enjoy the journey together,” with a focus on exciting all Calgarians about aging.

At The Brenda Strafford Foundation, we’re thrilled to celebrate the seniors in our lives, and to share the joy, love, and wisdom they bring to our community. In honour of Seniors’ Week, we asked our residents and families to share a photo of their favourite memory to bring joy to our community and highlight the unique and inspiring journeys of those who call BSF home.

Meet Bow View Manor resident, Don, whose favourite memory takes us back to an exciting moment in his life: a bus trip across the UK, where he visited Wales, Ireland, and Scotland. During the trip, he was able to see ancient curling stones. For years, Don and his wife curled in Calgary at the Westwinds Curling Club.

“I curled as long as possible,” said Don. “And I was on a team with a skip that was 100 years young. I usually played second or lead on my various teams over the years.”

Thank you, Don, for sharing such a wonderful memory that encourages us to stay active and cherish the special moments in our lives. To read more stories from BSF, visit: BSF News | Aging Care & Senior Living
