Over the past few days, our CEO, Tony Weeks, along with Kevin Melanson, Executive Director, International Healthcare & Chief Social Impact Officer, were in Jamaica to advance and announce four exciting new BSF initiatives.
We proudly launched Livwell by The Brenda Strafford Foundation, a rebranded local company that reflects our commitment to ensuring the care we provide, and the people we serve in Montego Bay, truly live well.
After kicking off The Brenda Strafford Foundation Optometry Scholarship in Black River nine months ago, Tony and Kevin joined Dr. Vish Pothula, President of the All-American Institute for Medical Sciences, in formally congratulating two of our first scholarship recipients, Teija S. and Uton V.
Recognizing the importance of understanding local challenges, the Dr. Barrie Strafford Centre for Learning, Innovation & Quality (CLIQ) team has partnered with the University of West Indies on a national eye care research study, which will provide critical insights to further advance the work of Livwell across Jamaica.
We’re also excited to announce the launch of a new Adult Day Centre pilot project at our Livwell campus. In collaboration with the University of West Indies Mona Aging and Wellness Centre, and with funding support from the Inter-American Development Bank, this initiative creates a vibrant sense of community, helping to reduce social isolation in older adults.
This progressive work in health and aging care demonstrates our commitment to the people of Jamaica, and the importance of local collaboration. Exciting times ahead as we continue to build meaningful, impactful partnerships that align with our mission to optimize well-being and enrich lives.
