SPARQ, supported by BSF’s Dr. Barrie Strafford Centre for Learning, Innovation & Quality (CLIQ), consists of Quality Improvement Committees that bring together residents, families, front-line staff, and corporate team members to make a real difference and influence change in the places they live and work.
Recently, Cambridge Manor’s committee kicked off with a brainstorming session, generating a flurry of ideas to enhance the resident experience within the building. One standout idea was to bring more greenery into the space!
To ensure this was something the residents wanted, the committee conducted a survey. The results were clear: 78% of surveyed residents were eager for more indoor plants in common areas, and 50% were excited to help care for them.
With this green light, the team sprang into action. They mapped out the project, starting with selecting a location and purchasing supplies. In collaboration with the Recreation Team, they organized a fun trip to IKEA, where residents handpicked their favorite plants.
The excitement didn’t stop there - residents also got creative, painting flowerpots during an engaging activity session. Now, the plants are thriving on Abington, with residents proudly tending to their leafy friends!
