The eye centre will be operated by local organization Livwell with a renewed focus on enhancing eye care in the community to optimize well-being and enrich lives.

Albion, Montego Bay, St James (Jamaica) – Livwell by the BSF announces that effective July 1, 2025, the eye centre in Albion will be managed by Livwell as part of their campus of care. This renewed effort to enhance local eye care services will better serve the needs of the surrounding community.

The eye centre, currently known as the ‘Community Vision Centre of Excellence’, has been run in partnership with Canadian Vision Care, Lions Club of Montego Bay, and The Brenda Strafford Foundation (BSF) since it was first established in 2018. To support its ongoing growth, the facility will now become the Livwell Eye Centre, officially integrated as part of the Livwell campus of care that also runs a long-term care home and adult day centre.

Invaluable local and international partnerships will continue with BSF’s Livwell assuming management and operation of the eye centre. This strategic move leverages the local leadership and expanding services at Livwell’s campus of care and BSF’s strategic priority to collaborate to improve sustainable access to health services in the Caribbean.

“Livwell is all about making a positive impact in our community,” says Angella Graham, Livwell Executive Director. “With our long-term care home, adult day centre, and now a growing eye centre, we’re creating a place where people can optimize their health and well-being.”

"We’re proud to build on a strong foundation of eye care and health care in the Caribbean,” says Kevin Melanson, BSF Vice President, International Healthcare & Social Impact. “As we move forward together, our shared goal is to expand accessibility and create even greater opportunities for those we serve."

Changes to enhance the eye centre’s services will include:
